Pittsfield Police arrested a city man Tuesday night following a fatal shooting on North Street.

Edward Jennings, 34, of Pittsfield is charged with first-degree murder after shooting and killing 39-year-old Lemond Grady, also of Pittsfield.

Pittsfield Police responded to the area of 631 North Street following a ShotSpotter activation and multiple 911 calls at approximately 6:18 p.m.

Patrol units swiftly ascertained a description of the suspect, who fled the scene on foot and arrested Jennings on the nearby Lincoln Street.

Action Ambulance transported Grady to Berkshire Medical Center where he later succumbed to his injuries. Pittsfield Police, The Berkshire State Police Detective Unit assigned to the Berkshire District Attorney's Office, and Berkshire District Attorney Andrea Harrington all responded to the scene.

The court will likely arraign Jennings Wednesday morning and additional charges may be pending.
