The Pittsfield Police Department is looking to hire new recruits, but ya gotta take "the test" first!

The application deadline for the civil service exam is Apr. 20 with the actual exam on Jun. 12.

Slater: So can ANYONE take the civil service exam?

Slater: Do Pittsfield Police hire locally or do they seek applicants statewide?

Slater: Did you do well on the test? Do you have to know anything about law enforcement?

Marjo: Folks interested in becoming law enforcement officers are trending downward. Do you think the negative attention officers are getting over the last few years is the reason for this? And, what do you love about the job?

Slater: The Police Advisory Review Board (made up of civilians) was complimentary about the changes the Pittsfield Police had made regarding the new police reform bill. Can you comment on that?
