
Pittsfield Summer Movie Nights Return to Clapp Park, Plus Lake Treatment Heads-Up
Pittsfield families: summer is just a week away and the city is prepping some things for you. First off, the City’s Department of Community Development Recreation Program is bringing back Summer Movie Nights at Clapp Park. Sponsored by Greylock Federal Credit Union, the series features one movie each month in June, July, and August. Second, is Live on the Lake, a free community concert series on the shores of Onota Lake. There will be seven free shows on Wednesday nights in July and August. Third, both Onota and Pontoosuc lakes will be treated to control invasive plants starting tomorrow.

Movie Night
Mark these dates on your calendar if you want to catch an outdoor flick this summer at Clapp Park: Friday, June 26 is Zootopia 2. Friday, July 17 brings Freakier Friday. And Friday, August 14 is Barbie. Please bring your own blankets and chairs, plus The Lions Club will be selling popcorn and soda. Transactions are cash only, and all shows are weather dependent.
Live on the Lake
Live 95.9 and Greylock Federal Credit Union are back with another season of live music at in adjacent to Onota Lake's Controy Pavilion. The season kicks off July 8 with Whiskey City at 6:00 p.m. Food and beverages available for purchase from Krispy Cones, BB's Hot Spot, and Berkshire Kettle Creations and Lemonade.
Pontoosuc and Onota Lake Treatment
A heads up for boaters, swimmers, and lake users. The city is treating Pontoosuc Lake and Onota Lake with aquatic herbicides to control invasive plants. Pontoosuc gets treated Wednesday, June 17. Onota follows on Tuesday, June 23. During treatment, both lakes close to all water users including people and pets. For Pontoosuc: No boating, fishing, or swimming until June 18. No irrigation until June 23. For Onota: Closures last until June 24, with no irrigation until July 8. Warning posters will go up around the shorelines ahead of time.
