After about six years in business, J. Allen's on North St. in Pittsfield closed in October of 2019. It was a popular spot for food and drink and entertainment. Since then, however, the location has remained empty.

At one time, possibly pre-pandemic, a brewery was supposed to go in there, however, nothing came of it and the location is still available. Due to the sheer size of the place, filling the prime downtown spot could be difficult.
