With online shopping at an all-time high, porch pirates are out in full force this holiday season. Protect your deliveries with these simple strategies.

Require a Signature

Many shipping carriers offer signature-required delivery for valuable packages. It costs a bit more, but ensures your package won't be left unattended on your doorstep while you're at work.

Use Package Tracking

Sign up for delivery notifications from UPS, FedEx, and Amazon so you know exactly when packages arrive. The sooner you bring them inside, the less chance thieves have to grab them.

Deliver to Your Workplace

If your employer allows it, have packages shipped to your office. This keeps them secure during business hours when someone's always around. (My co-worker does this all of the time)!

Install a Video Doorbell

Visible security cameras deter thieves. Even budget-friendly video doorbells can capture footage of package thieves and help police identify them. Many thieves will skip homes with visible cameras entirely.

Request Hold for Pickup

UPS, FedEx, and the Post Office all offer free package hold services. Instead of home delivery, pick up your packages at their facilities on your schedule.

Ask a Neighbor

If you're friendly with neighbors who work from home, ask if they can grab your packages when they arrive. Return the favor when they're away.

Use Amazon Lockers or Pickup Points

Amazon offers secure locker locations and pickup points at local stores. Your package stays locked until you retrieve it with a unique code.

Ship to a PO Box

For smaller items, a PO Box at your local post office keeps packages secure until you can pick them up.
