Food & Wine Recommends These Hot Dogs for Backyard Barbecues
Berkshire County is gearing up for another fun summer full of concerts, sports games, vacations, and more. It's hard to believe that we are halfway through 2026, but that's the case.
While the aforementioned activities will add a great deal of pleasure to your summer experience, there's one special day coming up this weekend: Father's Day.
Now that I have a daughter, Father's Day is extra special to me. I don't need anything, just the fact that my daughter is going to run from her bedroom to my bedroom and enthusiastically shout out Happy Father's Day is enough to make my day.
Many dads around the Berkshires and beyond will be spending time with their families this Sunday, sharing special moments. Whether it's fishing together, hiking, going out for a meal, or just playing catch in the backyard, many dads will feel the love on June 21.
Another favorite dad activity on Father's Day is having a backyard barbecue. Even though it's Dad's special day, he'll be the one who wants to host and operate the grill. If you are planning on throwing some dogs on the grill this Father's Day, you may be wondering which dogs are best for grilling.
Of course, "best" is a matter of opinion, but Food & Wine recommends Wellshire Farms Premium Beef Franks. The folks at Food & Wine feel that these franks are the beefiest of the variety of dogs they tested. They also like the fact that the dogs aren't smothered in seasoning. The frank does its job by bringing the taste out on its own. Food & Wine also feels that the best way to cook these franks is on the grill, "where the meat can char and deepen in flavor."
Have you ever tasted these franks before, and do you recommend them to be grilled this Father's Day? I would love to know, as I would consider getting them for my grill this Sunday. You can check out all of the brands that Food & Wine taste-tested by going here.
