Richard Marx to Perform Live in the Berkshires This Fall
Richard Marx is making a stop in Massachusetts this fall. He's coming to Berkshire County.
I have been to a lot of concerts, and often the best are the stripped-down, intimate ones. One artist who puts on a dynamite show is Richard Marx. I have seen Richard Marx twice. The first time was at Infinity Music Hall in Norfolk, Connecticut, roughly 15 years ago. The second time was around 10 years ago at the Colonial Theater in Pittsfield, and he was fantastic both times.
What Were the Two Richard Marx Shows Like?
The two times I saw Richard, he didn't have an entire band with him. The first time it was him and one other musician assisting him during some of the show, and the second time he was solo. Without having the band, he was able to make such hits as Right Here Waiting, Hold on to the Nights, Don't Mean Nothing, Should Have Known Better, Now and Forever, and more sound absolutely fantastic.

Richard Marx Has a Great Sense of Humor, and He Displays That at His Concerts
Each time I saw him, he brought a storyteller's vibe to the shows. It was intimate, and as I mentioned before, he was right on the money. The one thing you may not know is he has a really great sense of humor. At one of the shows, he was talking about how he was in a studio at a remote location with a young NSYNC. If memory serves correctly, he was either producing them or he helped write a few of their songs, so he was with them in the studio. Word wasn't supposed to get out that they were all there because, you know, fans, media, etc, would be waiting outside the studio.
Some Fans Found Out
The word did get out, and there were a few fans that were outside the studio waiting to get a glimpse of their favorite stars. I believe the members of NSYNC got out without being hassled by fans, but at the end of the session, it was really late at night, and Richard Marx was still there. As he was leaving the studio, there were a couple of girls still milling around, and one of them asked him, "Are you Richard Marx?" Richard, feeling all confident and suave, said, "Well, yes I am," with a big grin. Then the girl said, "My mom loves you." As you can imagine, he told the story with a bit of a sarcastic tone, and the audience burst into laughter. I love the fact that the guy has had an illustrious career, wrote massive hits for other artists, and is still able to poke fun at himself and not take life too seriously.
