Update: A tornado warning is in effect until 3:30 p.m. Tornado watch in effect until 8 p.m while a severe thunderstorm warning is in effect until 4 p.m.

After a couple of days of beautiful weather, it looks like Mother Nature has some other ideas for Tuesday, according to the National Weather Service.

Meteorologists from multiple outlets are saying that the Berkshires, and Western Massachusetts in general, could see heavy thunderstorms throughout the afternoon and early evening hours. The NWS out of Albany is saying to expect these storms to hit between Noon and 7 p.m.

Our area is predicted to be at a Level 3: Enhanced; which is described as "numerous severe storms possible." Impacts of these storms include:

  • Damaging winds resulting in power outages & possibly some structural damage
  • Hail 1+ inch in diameter, which could result in damage to agriculture, windows & roofs.
  • Cloud-to-Ground Lightning
  • And yes, possibly an isolated tornado

At the end of the day, this could all come to fruition, or we could get nothing. We've been here many times, and were here pretty much all winter long. This seems a bit more legit. Bring your umbrella and be prepared. Stay dry Berkshire County!
