An Annual Berkshire Summer Tradition Has Been Canceled

Berkshire County is full of summer traditions, including the Pittsfield 4th of July Parade, James Taylor's summer Tanglewood performances, Berkshire Busk in Great Barrington, and the list goes on and on.

These traditions and events are what make Berkshire County a prime choice for summer tourists and also why locals continue to live here. However, for one reason or another, some traditions get interrupted and have to be skipped for a year or more. We all know that during COVID-19 almost everything was interrupted and canceled, especially during the summer of 2020. However, many of these events rebounded and resumed when it was safe to do so.

One Berkshire County tradition that will not be taking place this year is the 34th annual Stockbridge Summer Arts and Crafts Show, which was scheduled for August 15-16, 2026. According to a press release that was sent to us from the Stockbridge Chamber of Commerce, the decision follows the notification that construction at the Town Offices property where the show is held will not be completed in time for the event, making it impossible to safely accommodate exhibitors and visitors. The decision was made only after exploring every reasonable option to move forward safely.

The press release also states that registered exhibitors are being notified directly and will receive a full refund of their exhibitor fee.

It was reported in late July that there are structural problems with the cupola at the Stockbridge Town Offices building and access to the building has been limited. Operational changes have also been made, which you can read more about by going here.
