Tenants Displaced After Fourth Street Fire In Pittsfield
The Red Cross is working with tenants on living arrangements for three adults and five children after a Saturday morning fire in Pittsfield.
The Pittsfield Fire Department responded to 48-50 Fourth St. around 10:20 a.m. for a reported fire under the front porch. Upon arrival, crews found active fire burning along the first-floor deck and into the first-floor wall area according to a media release from PFD.

All fire was extinguished quickly; however, crews remained on scene for about two hours to prevent hot spots as well as to conduct fire investigation.
Quick action by a tenant who called 911 and a fast stop by the Pittsfield Fire Department prevented further damage to the old "balloon frame" home.
Fire, heat, and smoke damage is said to have caused about $15,000 in damage.
No injuries were reported and the cause of the fire is still under investigation.
