The opioid epidemic is effecting communities across the country and unfortunately it's something we're all too familiar with here in Berkshire County as well. We are often reminded that drug use can start with children at young age, who find these prescription drugs right in their own homes.

According to the 2016 National Survey on Drug Use and Health, 6.2 million Americans misused controlled prescription drugs. The study shows that a majority of abused prescription drugs were obtained from family and friends, often from the home medicine cabinet. Don't Be The Dealer!

The Pittsfield Police Department along with communities from across the United States set aside one day to help make it a little easier to turn over any unwanted or unused prescription medication and keep them out of the wrong hands.

Tomorrow, Saturday Oct. 27, prescription drugs can be dropped off at the Pittsfield Police Department on Allen Street, where they will safely disposed of.
