Massachusetts residents are all too familiar with the cost of food increasing regularly. I feel like when I go grocery shopping, I walk out with very little but practically pay an arm and a leg for those small amounts of items.

Obviously, that's not just my experience; people are feeling the price hikes and pinch throughout the Bay State. Many people continue to struggle to make ends meet. Some folks have the unfortunate choice of having to choose one basic need over the other week to week, which nobody should have to experience, but that's reality.

One thing people can do is sniff out the deals and shop smarter. Using coupons can help. Also, if the grocery store you have been shopping at for years is becoming too expensive, it may be time to look for a new store that offers more value for your money.

The Daily Meal released a list of some of the best budget grocery chains you can shop at. You may not be surprised that Aldi landed in the top spot. Another major chain that landed on the list is Walmart. The site states that Walmart is the undisputed top grocer in the U.S. The sheer size of Walmart makes it possible for the store to keep prices low, and unlike Aldi, Walmart's selection isn't as limited, as it carries a variety of name brands at low prices.

Speaking from personal experience, I can say that Walmart has some great deals and low prices. The company's Great Value brand offers many items that are high quality and are less expensive than the name brands. Items like cereal, ice cream, eggs, milk, peanut butter, and applesauce are all very good quality items. You can't tell the difference between the Great Value brand and the name brands when it comes to those items, at least that's what I have found as I purchase Great Value items regularly.

Of course, Walmart isn't hard to find in Massachusetts. There are 48 locations throughout the Bay State, including Pittsfield, North Adams, Worcester, Springfield, and many more. You can view all of the locations in the Bay State by going here.

Discontinued McDonald's items tell the story of eight decades of quiet experiments, from a pizza that took too long to cook to a lobster roll that never made financial sense.
