The closest Trader Joe's to Berkshire County is still in Hadley, MA (my fiance loves that place), but Massachusetts has gained another location!

Trader Joe’s opened its newest Massachusetts store at 9 a.m. on Wednesday at 34 Walkers Brook Drive in Reading.

The store sits in the Crossing at Walkers Brook shopping area, just off Routes 128 and 95 near the Route 93 exit. It took over space that used to be a Staples store. The new location measures 9,865 square feet and is the first Trader Joe’s in Reading. -boston25news.com

Store Captain Paul Lembo and the crew welcomed the first customers. The company hired more than 40 workers from Reading and surrounding towns. Other employees moved over from nearby Trader Joe’s stores to help get things running.

The new store is right next to other well-known businesses. Shoppers can find The Paper Store, Golf Galaxy, Home Depot, Jordan’s Furniture, and Anthony’s Coal Fired Pizza in the same plaza. That makes it easy to run a few errands in one old-fashioned brick and mortar stop. 😂

Like other Trader Joe’s locations, this store will take part in the company’s Neighborhood Shares Program. Any food that does not sell but is still safe to eat gets donated to local nonprofits every day of the week.

Trader Joe’s now has 28 stores across Massachusetts. The Reading spot is meant to serve people from Reading, Wakefield, Stoneham, North Reading, and other nearby communities who previously had to drive farther for the chain’s products.

The store is open daily from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Anyone looking for the chain’s mix of everyday groceries and unique items can stop by 34 Walkers Brook Drive in Reading.
