Slater had the chance to speak with Commissioner of Public Works, Ricardo Morales, about a bunch of topics including the Tyler St. roundabout on Monday.

Construction has started on the Woodlawn St. side and according to Morales the new roundabout will be operational "in a few weeks".

You've probably noticed that we have done work to one side, and right now we've turned to work on the other side. Give it a few weeks and we will have the roundabout operational.

Some work will still have to be done, you know the final stages of construction, but it would be operational.

Next year we will come back with the rest of Tyler St., from the new roundabout all the way to First St.

Changes to the curb line, bump-outs, all of your standards for traffic calming measures that we have designed for Tyler St. -Ricardo Morales

The roundabout proposed for the intersection of First/Stoddard right across from BMC will start in 2023.

Morales also mentioned that for North St. to go back to two lanes of travel on both sides it would take data showing that vehicular crashes increased and overall safety was getting worse.

The U.S. Census 2019 American Community Survey and America's Health Rankings Senior Report 2019 data were also used to provide demographics on the senior population of each state and the state's rank on senior health care, respectively.
