If you've driven along Route 7 in Lanesborough lately, you've probably noticed the big new structure going up near Pontoosuc Lake. That's the Lake House Guest Cottages of the Berkshires, and the place is getting a major upgrade.

A 6,000-square-foot, two-story welcome center is currently under construction on the property. The first floor will feature a front-facing great room with a modern commercial kitchen to the rear, and the second floor will serve as two staff apartments. The project is expected to be completed by Memorial Day 2026. -troyrecord.com

The timing lines up with a big business move for the property. Mazzone Hospitality, which serves numerous premier venues in New York's Capital Region, has come on board as exclusive caterer and managing partner of the luxury retreat and wedding venue. They will retain all existing Lake House personnel and honor existing contracts.

The goal of the new welcome center is to attract year-round family and corporate events, retreats, and team-building activities. That's a shift for a property that has built its reputation almost entirely on weddings. During the wedding off-season, roughly late October to May, the Lake House primarily hosts family retreats, reunions, and corporate events.

Owner and builder Eric Taylor originally constructed the Lake House Guest Cottages in 2015-2016. Taylor also bought and remodeled the former ITAM lodge, now The Proprietor's Lodge, on Waubeek Rd. in Pittsfield in 2018, which is also on Pontoosuc lake. The resort (Lake House) today largely serves as a premier weekend wedding destination, drawing guests from across the United States and as far away as Europe, Asia, and Australia.

I've DJ'd a few weddings there and it is absolutely beautiful and the staff is great.

The property sits right on Pontoosuc Lake, just off Route 7 in Lanesborough. Seven cottages can accommodate 50 to 60 overnight guests, and the whole property can be bought out for a full weekend event.
