Zuke’s Soups Curbside Cafe; Laundromat Slated For July 1 Opening
Fans of "Zuke's Soups and Variety" at 381 West St. in Pittsfield have been out of luck for the last two years; however, a fresh coat of paint on the building prompted a call to Liz Zucco.
Zucco, who also owns Zucco's Family Restaurant on Dalton Ave in Pittsfield, spoke with Slater on Tuesday.
"Yes, it was a big decision to change the color of the building, but considering the concept is going to be a fresh laundromat for the community, we decided to go with a nice white paint.", said Zucco. "We are changing the whole reality of the building, it's been a grocery store for many many years. We are doing a takeout cafe which will be running hopefully from 11 a.m. till 11 p.m. daily along with the laundromat to match those hours. It'll be takeout only, you will order on the Merriam St. side and you can pick up on the West St. side. Grab and go great food, ice cream, milkshakes, a lot of our staple items that we originally had from Zuke's, such as our homemade chili, and the macaroni and cheese that everybody loved, and maybe some sandwiches as well. We will really be emphasizing on the baked potato! It's gonna be the "Z" potato, you can grab and go with all of your favorite items, chive, sour cream, butter, chili, loaded, we are really excited to get those potatoes moving out that window."
Although there will be one or two tables available, Zucco mentioned that the goal was to have it be "grab and go", grab your food and go to all of your favorite Berkshire areas...the park, the lake, etc.
As far as the laundromat goes, Zucco is unsure of an official name, listen below.
"We are really excited for a July 1 opening date, gas lines are being installed for the machines, the handicap access ramp, and a few other things, but we are really hoping for a July 1 opening date," said Zucco.
