While many shared and tried to help find a missing Pittsfield man, the search came to a tragic end.

On Monday evening, the Berkshire County District Attorney’s Office released a statement that 66-year-old Dan Lewis was found dead by members of the Pittsfield Police Department. The body was located on West St. following a 911 call at around 4 p.m. Monday afternoon.

“When first responders arrived at the scene they found the body of 66-year-old Dan Lewis, who was reported missing Saturday evening,” the statement from the DA’s office read.

“Lewis was last seen near a home at the intersection of Dalton and Plastic Avenues. It was theorized he may have been heading to Stephentown, New York, where he had previously lived or Hinsdale, where he grew up.

“Investigators say Lewis’ death does not appear to be suspicious.”

Our condolences go out to his family and friends.
