Rain and Thunderstorms to Overtake the Berkshires in August?

We are still early in the month of July, and Berkshire County received its first major heat event of the summer last week. As you probably remember, it was a bit steamy the few days leading up to the 4th of July. Now the temperatures have settled back to more comfortable levels.

When it comes to August in the Berkshires, we have had some hot ones in the past. Of course, in the summer months like August, you usually get a mixed bag of weather, especially in Berkshire County. The question is, what's in store for us weather-wise for August 2026?

According to the Old Farmer's Almanac long-range forecast, August is going to have some wet days in Berkshire County. Each week in August has some kind of rain event in the mix.

The period of August 1-6 is calling for warm conditions with scattered thunderstorms. For August 7-10, you can expect heavy rain and isolated showers in the Berkshires. Looking at August 11-18, there's a mix of sunshine and thunderstorms in the forecast with mild to cool conditions. Finally, August 19-31 is predicting isolated thunderstorms with mild temperatures.

Will this really be the case for August in Berkshire County? We'll have to wait and see. Not many people want to deal with a lot of rain throughout the summer, so hopefully the Old Farmers Almanac is off for August, and we'll dodge the thunderstorms and heavy rains. Some rain and thunderstorms are fine, but we don't need a washout for the entire month. What are your thoughts?
