A local motorist escaped a rollover accident on Monday without serious injury.

Northbound traffic on South Street in Pittsfield was detoured Monday afternoon after the driver of a Honda CRV crashed into a utility pole and flipped over. The accident took place on the corner of South Street and Buel Street, according to the Pittsfield Police.

The driver of the SUV was transported to Berkshire Medical Center with injuries that were not believed to be serious, according to the PPD. The cause of the accident is under investigation at this time.

Traffic on South Street heading North began to open up after about an hour as workers and emergency crews cleared the scene of the crash.
