For the second time this week, firefighters in Pittsfield were able to quickly knock down a house fire.

Just after midnight on Saturday morning, PFD responded to 114 Parker St. in Pittsfield for a report of a fire in the attic.

According to Deputy Chief Dan Garner, the fire started due to "careless smoking". The finished room in the attic sustained heavy fire damage, but the fire was ultimately contained to just that room.

The 1 alarm fire prompted response from 3 engine companies and 1 Ladder Truck. No one was hurt in the blaze.
