
Gun and Narcotics Seized by Pittsfield Police Department
According to the Pittsfield Police Department, a report of suspicious activity lead to seizure of drugs and a .45 caliber Smith and Wesson handgun.
Yesterday morning, officer's respond to a suspicious person call. While investigating, a male party who police believed to be carrying a gun, attempted to flee from officers, but responding officers were ready and the subject was quickly detained.
During the struggle with officers, a loaded .45 S&W handgun fell from the subject's waistband. The subject was found to not have a valid LTC and subsequently placed under arrest for illegal possession of a firearm. Upon a search during booking, it was discovered that the subject was in possession of approximately 78 grams of cocaine.
The suspect was charged with Possession of a Firearm in Commission of a Felony, Trafficking Cocaine and Illegal Possession of Ammunition. The subject was later arraigned in Berkshire District Court, and a name as not been released at this time.
