Berkshire County is under a high wind warning until 7 p.m. tonight (Monday) and residents everywhere are certainly feeling the effects.

The winds have been gusting of speeds upwards of 40 miles per hour, causing power outages which have been reported throughout the City of Pittsfield, likely from downed trees and other debris.

A FaceBook post from the Pittsfield Police Department shows just how damaging and dangerous the wind can be. They remind residents to stay away from any downed power lines and be prepared to take detours on while commuting today for any possible road closures. Many intersections are controlled by traffic lights which could be improperly functioning due to damage.  If you encounter one, police are urging drivers to proceed with caution.
