Get ready for another bridge to go down to one lane in Pittsfield.

Due to a recent inspection by the Massachusetts Department of Transportation, the Holmes Road bridge over the Housatonic River located between Cooper Parkway and Pomeroy Avenue will be reduced to one lane of traffic beginning Monday, March 2 until further notice.

To set up this new traffic pattern, the bridge will be closed in both directions from the afternoon of Wednesday, February 25 through Sunday, March 1 so the appropriate barriers and signal can be installed.

A temporary detour will be in place during this work:

• If you travel north along Holmes Road, a detour will be in place at Pomeroy Avenue to Marshall Avenue, to Cooper Parkway and back to Holmes Road.

• If you travel south along Holmes Road, a detour will be in place at Cooper Parkway to Marshall Avenue to Pomeroy Avenue to Holmes Road.

Beginning on Monday, March 2 traffic will be allowed to travel in both directions as indicated by the temporary signal that will be in place.

The Commonwealth has selected this bridge for repair as part of the FAIR program in which the state will take on the responsibility for design and repair in an accelerated way. The city will continue to work closely with MassDOT on this project. Updates will be shared as more information becomes available and repair work begins.
