Hootie & The Blowfish are getting ready to do a couple of things they haven't done in a while as a group; release a new album and go on tour.

The band announced their upcoming "Group Therapy Tour" which will kick off May 30 in Virginia Beach, VA and wrap up Sept. 13 in their hometown of Columbia, SC. It will be the group's first major tour in over 10 years. In addition, the band announced they will release a studio album sometime in 2019, the first time they have done that in nearly 15 years.

Good news for fans of Hootie & The Blowfish: the concert tour will feature three stops that are very doable for those of us in Berkshire County.

The band's first nearby stop will take place Saturday, Aug. 3 at the Xfinity Center in Mansfield -- a mere two hour and 19 minute drive from Pittsfield, which will be the furthest trek you would have to take. The next night, Sunday, Aug. 4, the tour will hit SPAC in Saratoga, NY -- the closest of the three shows to us at an hour and 21 minutes away. Not much further than that, if you can't make the shows the first weekend of August, you can see the show Saturday, Aug. 31 at the Xfinity Theatre in Hartford, CT, which is a little over 90 minutes away.

If Darius Rucker and the crew are not enough for you, fellow 90's band Barenaked Ladies will be the opening act. Tickets for all three shows go on sale, via Live Nation, this Friday at 10 a.m. Tickets for the Mansfield show will range from $25 to $129.50, while the other two shows go from $29.50 to $129.50.
