What’s Open in Massachusetts on Friday, July 3? What About Mail?
Massachusetts residents are gearing up for the Independence Day holiday. Because the 4th of July falls on a Saturday this year, the government observance of the holiday will be Friday, July 3rd. With that said, some government institutions will be closed or have adjusted hours this Friday.
The good news is there will still be many businesses open on July 3, including big-box retailers like Walmart, Target, Big Y, Stop & Shop, Home Depot, and more. Again, those types of businesses will be open and, for the most part, will have normal operating hours on Friday. As a matter of fact, most, if not all, of those big-box retailers will also be open on Saturday, July 4. Of course, it's always a good idea to call ahead before you go shopping on Saturday, just in case your store is closed or has reduced hours.
In addition, your gas stations, convenience stores, fast food joints, and big chain restaurants will all be open this Friday as well. So if you're looking to dine out, grab a quick coffee, or fill up your tank, you'll be good to go like usual.
Some locally owned stores may be closed this Friday and Saturday. In this case, you'll certainly want to check ahead of time. You should also keep in mind that many stores will most definitely have heavy traffic on Friday and Saturday, particularly on July 3.
When it comes to the post office. USPS will be running like normal on July 3, and mail will be delivered per usual. However, it's worth noting that the post office will be closed and mail delivery will be suspended this Saturday.
As for government-type institutions and organizations, the stock market, along with many federal government offices, will be closed on Friday. But it's not a universal decision, so again, if you have business to conduct on Friday with these types of businesses, check ahead of time to be sure. Hopefully, you don't have too much to do on Friday, and you can enjoy the long weekend.
