You don’t expect to look up from lunch on East Street and see the lawyer from the Lindsay Clancy trial - or see him walking in the crosswalk like Otto's owner Luke Marion did, according to his Facebook page.

Kevin Reddington was in Pittsfield on Monday. People spotted him at Otto’s on East Street and later at the Burger King on First Street. He wasn’t here for a photo op. He was here for court.

But criminal trial enthusiast Daniel Busch was following him - he travels in an RV from court room to court room and vlogging about it.

Busch caught up with Reddington at Burger King in on First Street in Pittsfield.

Reddington is the lawyer people know from the Lindsay Clancy trial in Plymouth. That case ended with a hung jury. On Monday he was supposed to be in Berkshire Superior Court for another client, Kelsie Cote.

Who is Kelsie Cote?

Cote is 30 and from North Adams. She is charged with killing her grandmother, Doris Cote, 74, at the Church Street house on Halloween night in 2022. She's pleaded not guilty.

She is also charged with other crimes tied to that night. Prosecutors say it was not a fall down the stairs. They say money from the estate was part of the reason. That is what they plan to argue. A jury has not heard the case yet.

This case is old. It has been sitting for years. Dates got moved because of DNA testing and because Reddington was busy with the Clancy trial. He asked the judge to hold Monday’s hearing in person, not on a screen. The court brought Cote from the women’s jail in Chicopee. The next morning he was due back on the South Shore for Clancy again.

That is why people saw a familiar face eating lunch in Pittsfield on Monday. First Otto’s on East Street. Then Burger King on First Street.

Regardless of how you feel about Reddington, Clancy, or the declaration of a mistrial - people certainly recognize him. This case dominated national headlines for months.
