Nickelodeon Announces Classic ‘SNICK’ Reboots
If you were born between 1980 and 1990, you surely remember the golden area of Nickelodeon programming, anchored by a Saturday night line up, otherwise known as SNICK. The children's entertainment network has just announced that they're rebooting two of the flagship shows from that line-up, Are You Afraid of The Dark? And All That!
According to Variety, Nickelodeon is taking it back to the 90's with a reboot of both the shows and have signed a deal with former All That cast member turned Saturday Night Live stand out, Kenan Thompson to serve as the variety show's executive producer. The original series ran for 10 seasons from 1994 to 2005. The network also expects some former cast members to make appearances. The show is slated to premiere summer of 2019.
In addition, a miniseries of Are You Afraid of the Dark? will premiere October of this year. It will follow new generation of the Midnight Society, as the group of tweens again, gather around a campfire telling spooky stories in the forest each episode. The original series ran from 1990 to 1996 and was resurrected for a year in 1999 to 2000. The reboot also just happens to coincide with the upcoming Are You Afraid of the Dark? movie which will hit theaters in October 2019 as well.
