According to a release from the Pittsfield Police Department, Tuesday, July 7 approximately 1:46 pm officers responded to Kent Avenue in Pittsfield for a ShotSpotter activation. Callers also phoned 911 to report a shooting and said that a woman had been shot. Cooperating witnesses helped to identify the suspect vehicle as a maroon Chrysler van. That fact was later corroborated by video surveillance footage.

Officers encountered a female victim on the south side of the street across from 14 Kent Avenue. She was identified as a 43-year-old Pittsfield resident who sustained apparent gunshot wounds. Shell casings were also discovered in the area.

Officers located the suspect vehicle a short distance from the scene of the shooting. The vehicle was towed from the scene and will be processed for evidence. Persons of interest have been identified and charges against them will likely be forthcoming. This investigation remains ongoing and additional details may be released at a later date. The victim’s wounds are not believed to be life-threatening at this time.
