Sam Adams to Release Limited Edition Red Sox IPA This Month
Attention Red Sox fans and beer lovers! Samuel Adams is releasing a limited edition beer to pay tribute to one of Boston's, and baseball's, all-time greats.
The Boston-based brewery announced that they releasing their "brewery exclusive" Red Seat IPA on Sept. 27, which coincidentally is Samuel Adams' 296th birthday.
Red Seat IPA will pay homage to the legendary home run hit by Ted Williams that traveled 502-feet and, as legend has it, hit a sleeping fan in the Fenway Park bleachers. The seat where the ball landed is painted red to commemorate the historic Fenway blast.
There are some catches to getting your hands on this limited edition brewery; first, you can only get the beer at the Samuel Adams Brewery, 30 Germania Street in Boston during their launch party. The event will begin at 5:02 p.m. and go until 8:30. Secondly, the red IPA will only be given to the first 502 people who arrive to the event -- so there is no guarantee that you will get a Red Seat IPA if you go to the event.
The Red Seat IPA is described as layering "Southern Hemisphere hops with grapefruit and balsam pine aromas over a smooth and roasty malt backbone with notes of toffee."
There will be a lot of fun activities whether you get one of the limited edition beers or not. A baseball themed trivia game will happen -- a team game -- for a chance to win Red Sox themed prizes. The winning team will win four tickets to an upcoming Red Sox game at Fenway Park. Entry is $10, which will get you two pints of beer, a koozie and a live performance from Section 42.
For those interested in purchasing tickets for this event, and hopes to get your hands on this Ted Williams themed beer, you can do so here.
