Out of all the amazing things about summertime in The Berkshires, an outdoor concert at Tanglewood always tops my list. The grounds are gorgeous, a perfect setting for family and friends to enjoy a picnic and some pretty spectacular music from world renown artists. Summer home of the Boston Symphony Orchestra, frequented by James Taylor, and past host of artists like Taylor Swift, Lady Gaga, Tony Bennett, and Diana Ross (the list goes on and on) make Tanglewood a top destination for locals and tourists alike.

The 2018 Popular Artist Series does not disappoint. Rock and Roll fans rejoice! After a visit from The Who's Pete Townsend last year, another member of the iconic band, Robert Daltrey will team up with The Boston Pops to welcome to kick off the summer season with a performance of rock opera Tommy. The Steve Miller Band with make their return to the Lenox music venue on July 22nd and will be joined by Peter Frampton. I saw Steve Miller Band back in 2013 and they sounded better than ever.

Pop fans also have something to look forward to when Andy Grammar takes the stage at Tanglewood for his first headlining gig at the venue, although he's no stranger to the shed. Grammar opened up for Tanglewood veteran band Train in 2015 and was part of the Pops Fireworks Spectacular last year as well. James Taylor will delight residents and visitors alike with his annual July 3rd & 4th gig to celebrate the Independence Day Holiday.

Looking for some laughs this summer? The music institution has got you covered there too. Funny men Steve Martin and Martin Short take the stage together towards the end of the summer on September 2nd, check out Mike's blog about that comedy show here.
