Big Box Retailer With 50 Locations In Massachusetts To Shutter 9 Stores
Organized retail theft is a rampant problem in spots across this country at the moment and is prompting extremely difficult decisions for corporate America.

With that said, we have made the difficult decision to close nine Target stores across four states, effective Oct. 21.
In this case, we cannot continue operating these stores because theft and organized retail crime are threatening the safety of our team and guests, and contributing to unsustainable business performance. We know that our stores serve an important role in their communities, but we can only be successful if the working and shopping environment is safe for all. -target.com
A Massive Problem
"Slater and Marjo" recently spoke with Berkshire County district attorney Tim Shugrue about frequent local theft.
Organized retail crime is three or more people. One person may be driving the car, one person is distracting inside the store, and the third person is actually stealing the merchandise.
So, it's expanded from shoplifting, now it's organized retail crime. I'm not talking someone stealing diapers or baby formula, I'm talking about people stealing substantial items that they sell on the black market.
Ulta's was a perfect example, all of the cologne that was stolen is a perfect example because it sells well on the black market.

New York: Harlem
Oregon: Portland (2)
Washington: Seattle (2)
No Massachusetts stores will be affected by the closings at this time.
