Pronunciation is important! Especially in the state of Massachusetts! No one ever wants to mispronounce anything, ever. It can bring any conversation to a abrupt halt. Typically, before you even attempt to pronounce something that you're not exactly sure about, the best thing to do is probably, at the very least, Google it, duh! Or just ask someone else. It just so happens that Massachusetts has more than a few cities and towns that are mispronounced quite often. Like, all the time!

A list of the most mispronounced cities in the U.S. has been released, and probably not surprisingly, we had one of the most commonly mispronounced cities on the list. In fact, it's the very top one on our list that you will see below. Surprisingly, none of these others made that particular list, but are definitely just as much a problem for many to pronounce correctly.

When you mispronounce something, not only does it accentuate someone's personal lack of knowledge of whatever it is that they might be talking about, but it also doesn't say much about what your knowledge is overall. Before I lived here, I admit, I didn't know how to pronounce 'Berkshires'. The first time I said it, it was like, "Burk-shy-urs". Obviously, that's wrong and I sounded like an idiot. Instant facepalm!

Since being corrected on that, I've definitely learned that even if I think I know how something is pronounced, the best thing to do is ask or Google, as I previously mentioned.

It just so happens that the state of Massachusetts in general has a plethora of cities and towns that not every knows how to pronounce correctly. If you pronounce a city or town incorrectly, that can come off as pretty disrespectful. It's nearly as bad as mispronouncing someone's name. So we've made a list of the most commonly mispronounced cities and towns in all of the Bay State. Have a look...
