Skip the Tanglewood traffic and head to Downtown Pittsfield!

Tomorrow, Friday, July 19, the Boston Symphony Orchestra will broadcast live from Tanglewood to The Common, First Street in Pittsfield.

Starting at 5 p.m., the BSO, in partnership with the City of Pittsfield and local organizations, will present a first ever free community event on The Common, entitled Tanglewood in the City: Pittsfield.  The live video feed will bring tomorrow night's BSO performance at Tanglewood to those gathered on The Common Lawn via a 15x27 foot screen.

The show will begin with welcoming comments from a BSO musician and then feature BSO Music Director Andris Nelsons leading the orchestra in music of Betsy Jolas, Debussy, and Ravel, as well as Saint-Saëns’s Cello Concerto No. 1 with soloist Gautier Capuçon.

Those gathered at The Common will also have an opportunity to enjoy casual summer fare from local on-site food vendors including Main Street Hospitality, Barrington Brewery, SoCo Creamery, and Mad Jack’s BBQ.

There will be a free SoCo ice cream giveaway at 7 pm (while supplies last!), a beer garden for adults, and many pre-show activities and performances.

Those attending will also receive a free lawn ticket voucher for an upcoming Tanglewood show and experience the BSO live in-person.
