Two Warrants Issued in Connection with August 16th Pittsfield Shooting

Two people are now facing charges after the shooting on Francis Avenue back on August 16th, according to a press release by the Berkshire DA's office.

Pittsfield Police got arrest warrants on Monday for two suspects they say are behind that shooting. It happened near 211 Francis Avenue. Three people were shot that day and all three were taken to Berkshire Medical Center. None of the injuries were life threatening. Two of the people who got shot are actually the same two people now facing charges.

One of the suspects is a juvenile. That person is facing a long list of charges, including attempted murder, assault and battery with a firearm, firing a gun within 500 feet of a home, and a few gun possession charges tied to not having the right license.

The second suspect is Jason Wright, 41 years old, last known address on Woodlawn Avenue in Pittsfield. He's facing basically the same set of charges: attempted murder, assault and battery with a firearm, firing a gun near a home, and gun and ammo possession without a license.

District Attorney Timothy Shugrue praised the Pittsfield Police Department for cracking this case in just 8 days. He said his office is putting money and resources behind the department, including overtime pay and State Police help, as they keep working other recent shootings from June 18th and August 4th. He made it clear that anyone bringing guns and violence into Berkshire County will be held accountable.

Mayor Peter Marchetti and Police Chief Ryan Maddalena also spoke up, both thanking the officers and investigators involved and promising the community that these cases are being taken seriously.
