Lt. Randy Stein from the Pittsfield Fire Department was on City Talk this past weekend to talk about Fire Safety in the winter months, and what you can do to keep your family safe from fire this time of year.

We covered topics ranging from using smoke and Carbon Monoxide detectors, to the proper placement and usage of space heaters.

We encourage you, as does the Pittsfield Fire Department, to adopt a fire hydrant near your home. Keeping at least a snow blower width path around your neighborhood fire hydrants is very important. It can save firefighters valuable time in being able to get to your home or your neighbor’s home quickly to put out a fire.
