I remember President Trump on the lawn of The White House in March of 2020 declaring the COVID-19 pandemic a national emergency. I couldn't believe it. I had only heard of pandemics of this magnitude in the history books, and now I was living through one.

I remember Gov. Charlie Baker along with Mayor Tyer and the representatives from the city's health department on the steps of Pittsfield's City Hall.

I remember talking to some nurses who worked on the COVID-19 floor at BMC and how nervous they were and how "they had never seen anything like this before".

I also remember hosting "Slater and Marjo In The Morning" from my kitchen table when this video of drone footage shot by Paul Procopio was being shared all over social media. I remember a tear running down my eye. I couldn't believe it. Yes, I was emotional about it.

Now, even with nearly 75% of the country vaccinated, new variants are challenging us. Whether you believed the "lockdowns" were helpful or harmful, Pittsfield once looked like this for a bit.
