Hey there! I'm Snorkel, a sweet, lovable, and very excitable Pittie man. I was surrendered to the shelter due to no fault of my own, as my owner's allergies to me were just too much for them.

I am an energetic young man who would love an active home to go out to explore and play, but also come home to snuggle and relax. While I love every human I meet, I would do best with teens 13+ as I don't always know my strength when I get excited.

I am not reactive to other dogs, but once I'm near one, I try to dominate them. Because of this, it would be best if I was the only pet in the household.

LOOK: Here Are 30 Foods That Are Poisonous to Dogs

To prepare yourself for a potential incident, always keep your vet's phone number handy, along with an after-hours clinic you can call in an emergency. The ASPCA Animal Poison Control Center also has a hotline you can call at (888) 426-4435 for advice.

Even with all of these resources, however, the best cure for food poisoning is preventing it in the first place. To give you an idea of what human foods can be dangerous, Stacker has put together a slideshow of 30 common foods to avoid. Take a look to see if there are any that surprise you.
