North Adams Man Indicted in Fatal Hit-and-Run of Pittsfield Motorcyclist
A North Adams man was arraigned in Berkshire Superior Court on Wednesday morning in connection with a hit-and-run that killed a 49-year-old Pittsfield man.
The Berkshire County District Attorney's Office states that 32-year-old Brian Dillard appeared before Judge John Agostini and was indicted by a grand jury. Dillard had not guilty pleas entered on his behalf on one count each of motor vehicle homicide by negligent operation, leaving the scent of a personal injury accident death resulting, leaving the scene of a property damage accident, negligent operation of a motor vehicle, use of a motor vehicle without authority and operating a motor vehicle with a suspended license.
It is alleged that Dillard was driving a stolen vehicle just before 6 p.m. on Aug. 24 when he collided with a motorcycle near Johns and Linden Streets in Pittsfield. The operator of the motorcycle, Alan Keefe, died as a result of the injuries sustained in the crash.
According to the DA's office, Dillard will remain at the Berkshire County House of Correction without the right to bail. He was refused bail following a dangerousness hearing at the end of August and that will continue until at least Dec. 24, according to officials. Dillard was arrested on Aug. 30 by the North Adams Police Department.
Dillard is scheduled to be back in court for a pretrial hearing on April 17. The investigation was conducted by members of the Pittsfield and North Adams Police Departments.
