Every Wednesday at 8:30 Slater and I are joined by John Perreault, Executive Director of the Berkshire Humane Society to discuss all the happenings at their Barker Road facility, plus talk about their Pet of the Week.

This week's Pet(s) of the Week are two Guinea Pigs that would be great for a family that's looking for a pet that's a little more low maintenance. Versace and Armani are two male guinea pigs who were surrendered together because their owner didn’t want them anymore. Versace is a handsome black and orange guinea pig and Armani is all brown. They were caged together but started fighting, so if they are adopted together, they must be caged separately. If potential adopters are not familiar with how to care for a guinea pig, one of the humane society's small-animal specialists will be happy to talk with them.

In addition to telling us about Armani and Versace, John reminded listeners that the shelter is still operational but has made adjustments to keep the public and staff safe and healthy. The shelter is not currently open to the public, but animals can still be viewed in private showings by contacting Berkshire Humane Society directly. Despite COVID-19 fears, they have continued to successfully place animals this week, in addition, to keep lost or stray animals safe.

To learn more about Armani and Versace and all the other pets looking for their forever home, contact at the Berkshire Humane Society at 214 Barker Road in Pittsfield, or give the shelter a call at (413) 447-7878.
