3rd Thursday Celebrates Health Tonight
It’s the June edition of 3rd Thursday tonight in Pittsfield’s downtown. Pittsfield's award-winning street festival returns with a Health theme tonight. North Street will be closed to vehicular traffic from West Street to Linden Street and will be filled with music, performance, food and community activities. 3rd Thursday’s is a fun event for the entire family and its one of the largest outdoor event series in the Berkshires, held each 3rd Thursday of the month, May through October.
Here is what you can look forward to tonight, according to a press release from the city’s Director of Cultural Development, Jennifer Glockner:
The Berkshire Running Center Green Mile Road Race, sponsored by Berkshire Bank, starts at 5:30pm at Park Square (no race day registration). Race proceeds will benefit the Pittsfield 4th of July Parade.
The main stage at Persip Park will feature an interactive salsa dance party with Berkshire Salsa; the Berkshire Rhythm Keeper concert and a special performance from Berkshire Theatre Group's Shrek. These performances will move into the Lichtenstein Center for the Arts in the event of inclement weather.
You'll also see demos, classes and performances from Berkshire Yoga Dance and Fitness (Click here for the full schedule.) at Palace Park. The classes from 6:30-8pm will move inside to the Berkshire Yoga Dance and Fitness Studio in the event of inclement weather.
3rd Thursday welcomes back the Jacob's Pillow Dance Pop-Up performance series. This month features the TL Collective. Performances fuse contemporary dance and theatrical hip-hop with elements of groove and acrobatics, bringing high levels of athleticism to the stage. Artistic Director Micaela Taylor is highly acclaimed, including as one of Dance Magazine’s “25 to Watch” and recent recipient of the Inaugural EMERGE Choreographic Award from Springboard Danse Montréal. The TL Collective performs Taylor’s newest evening-length work Drift, which seeks to demonstrate an individual’s ever-changing relationship to self while exposing a personal season of self-growth. This performance will move into the Zion Lutheran Church in the event of inclement weather.
