John Perreault, Executive Director of The Berkshire Humane Society joined me on Slater & Marjo in the Morning, as he does every Wednesday for our Pet of the Week segment, and we also talked with Lizzie from BHS about the Fur Reclamation Drive.

Throughout the month of March BHS will be collecting old fur coats to help in the rehab of wild animals that are injured or abandoned.  Fur garments will be dismantled and distributed to local wildlife rehabilitators to cuddle injured cubs and line the nests of orphaned youngsters. Rather than languishing at the back of your closet or taking up space in storage, donated furs can help nurture and heal infant raccoons, rabbits, foxes, fawns, and coyotes, among other baby animals that live in the Berkshires and beyond.

Without further ado, Meet Duke!

1 year, Retriever Mix

I am big and energetic boy! I am looking for an active home. I will need outlets for my energy. I would like to go for regular walks or hikes. I am working on fine tuning my house training. I am working on my leash skills and general manners. I would do best with a little bit older kids due my being a bit physical. I like to play with toys, but I sometimes play keep away with them. I will see if I could cohabitate with other animals, it remains to be seen. I will update as I make new discoveries. Where are the big dog lovers? Could I be a good fit for you?
