The year 2026 is around corner and I'm sure you're thinking about some sort of resolution? Well, at least I hope you are. Life is short - be your best self. Here are some suggestions while keeping it local.

The Gym

Even if you ultimately fall off - or not go as consistently - the gym is a game changer. Period. There are PLENTY of local gyms to support.

Support a New Local Business Every Month

With all the restaurants, cafes, and shops that opened in 2025 – from Hexagon Bagels in North Adams to Mazzeo's Italian Market in Lenox – you've got plenty of new spots to explore. Make it a goal to try one per month. Your wallet stays local, and you might find your new favorite place.

Hike a Trail You've Never Been To

The Berkshires has hundreds of trails. Pick one new hike per month, or even per season. Monument Mountain, Mount Greylock, Ashuwillticook Rail Trail, Pittsfield State Forest – there's always something new to discover, and it's free.

Attend More Community Events

Between farmers markets, First Fridays, concerts at Tanglewood, downtown festivals, and everything in between, we have events year-round. Commit to going to at least one per month instead of scrolling through your phone at home.

Explore a Berkshires Town You've Never Visited

Live in Pittsfield but never been to Sheffield? Spend all your time in Lenox but skip North Adams? Pick three towns you've barely explored and plan a day trip to each. Grab lunch, walk around, support their local businesses.

Take a Class or Workshop

From cooking classes at local restaurants to art workshops, pottery, yoga, or even a class at MCLA or BCC, invest in learning something new right here in Berkshire County.

Shop Local First

Before you click "buy" on Amazon, check if a local Berkshires business carries what you need. It takes an extra 30 seconds, but it keeps money in the community and supports your neighbors.
