Every Wednesday at 8:30 we're joined by John Perreault, Executive Director of the Berkshire Humane Society to discuss all the happenings at their Barker Road facility, plus talk about their Pet of the Week.

This week's Pet of the Week is Strawberry who is a one-year-old female hound mix. She came to Berkshire Humane Society from an overcrowded shelter in Tennessee.  She has a beautiful black/brindle coat with a white chest and paws. Strawberry has a lot of energy and would make someone great hiking or walking buddy.

Due to her youthful exuberance, Strawberry would do best in a home without small children or cats and with patient people who can continue her training, especially with keeping her from jumping on people to greet them. She could go home with another dog after a successful doggie introduction.  If you are interested in Strawberry, please call the kennel at 413-447-7878, extension 126.

LOOK: Here Are 30 Foods That Are Poisonous to Dogs

To prepare yourself for a potential incident, always keep your vet's phone number handy, along with an after-hours clinic you can call in an emergency. The ASPCA Animal Poison Control Center also has a hotline you can call at (888) 426-4435 for advice.

Even with all of these resources, however, the best cure for food poisoning is preventing it in the first place. To give you an idea of what human foods can be dangerous, Stacker has put together a slideshow of 30 common foods to avoid. Take a look to see if there are any that surprise you.
