Third Thursday season is in full swing in Downtown Pittsfield and the return of the free, public, monthly street festival means the return of The Green Mile Road Race

The theme of the June edition of Third Thursday is Health, which includes the 11th running of the Green Mile. The race is exactly what it sounds like, a U.S.A Track and Field certified mile road race.  All you got for one mile. Whether you're an avid runner who wants to see how fast they can bang out a mile, or a first timer who's a little intimidated by longer distances, this a fun race for everyone.

This year the fan favorite race proceeds, which are annually contributed to a local cause, will go towards funding Pittsfield's Forth of July Parade. The parade committee has been vocal with the public about financial woes that threaten to eliminate the parade all together in the coming years.

The out and back race takes place during the June 20 Third Thursday with a 5:30 p.m. start and sends runners from Park Square half a mile down North Street in front of the cheering crowd and back up to Park Square. There is NO day of race registration, so those wanting to participate can sign up in person a Berkshire Running Center, or online here. Your registration fee will not only benefit the Forth of July Parade, but will also earn you a pretty sweet Green Mile race shirt.
